This week’s doings coincided with the beginning of Inktober, an event running through October in which artists are encouraged to produce works in ink, so it was back to pen and paper for me.
Last time I used traditional media for the daily sketches I tried to experiment each day. This time I deliberately didn’t set any goal, I just sat down with the aim of having fun. To my surprise, I found myself drawing a pin-up, something I haven’t done for years. I enjoyed returning to a familiar subject so I did another, and a theme for the week was set. It was interesting to return to female characters after such a long break. (For those who don’t know, most of my personal work took the form of pin-ups, spawning three books, until around ten years ago when the Transmissions series became my main focus.) After seven days I was definitely missing the opportunity to do something more creative however. No intentional theme for the coming week!
